Jayoti Edington

First Vice President; Hamilton and District Labour Council

Jayoti Edington (she/her) is the 1st Vice President of the Hamilton and District Labour Council  and a practicing Long-Term Care Nurse of over 25 years. She is a former member of SEIU Healthcare’s Executive Board and is the workers’ side co-chair of her workplace Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

In addition, she also sits on the boards of the Solidarity Place Worker Education Centre, the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre, and Workforce Planning Hamilton.

Jayoti’s roots in organizing come from early career work in Co-operative Housing and through Hamilton’s Neighbourhood Action Strategy where she was the Co-Chair of the Crown Point Neighbourhood Association. She also currently sits on the Executive of the Federal and Provincial New Democratic Party’s Riding Association on Hamilton Mountain and is active for the Sexual Assault Centre of Hamilton’s Take Back at Night Event.
