Youth Supports

Children and youth require a nurturing environment to get a great start in life, do well in school, and reach their full potential. Through mentoring, sports, arts programs, and educational workshops, your support ensures that children and youth have the resources they need to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

Youth Supports

Why We Need You

Too many children and young people lack the necessary support to reach their full potential, and the pandemic has further hindered their progress. By focusing on the physical, emotional, and educational development of young individuals, we can prevent the emergence of problems that often arise from childhood challenges. These issues include dropping out of high school, unemployment, poor mental and physical health, and ongoing poverty. With your support, we can invest in after-school programs, positive mentorship, anti-bullying initiatives, parenting supports, mental health services, and programs that boost self-esteem. These resources help children and youth unleash their talents and energy, contributing to the creation of strong communities and healthier societies throughout their lives.

The child vulnerability index measures a range of social, mental and emotional factors to rate overall school readiness in kindergarten students and highlights how many children are lagging behind. Hamilton’s child vulnerability rate is 31%. The number of vulnerable children in Halton has increased by 36% over a nine-year period.
