Imagine living in a community where the most vulnerable have a safe home to lay their head and nutritious food to eat. A place where friends and neighbours can access the medical services and mental health supports they need to thrive when and where they need them. And everyone has equal educational and social opportunities, regardless of colour, age, orientation, or abilities.
For United Way Halton & Hamilton, this is more than a desire; it’s a mission. We’re committed to bringing people and resources together to create healthy, safe communities for everyone. By working together, we can make this a reality for Halton and Hamilton.
United in ACTION is our theme for the 2024-2025 campaign. This theme underscores our commitment to coming together, harnessing the power of community, and making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most. It’s about building a better future, turning compassion into action, ensuring no one is left behind, and creating lasting change together.
UPS Plane Pull Event
We are excited to announce the return of the UPS Plane Pull event, which was a huge success last year. Teams of enthusiastic participants came together to test their strength and pull a 200,000 pound UPS cargo plane across the tarmac. The event not only raised significant funds but also brought together people from all walks of life, united by a common goal: to support those in need in our community.
So mark your calendars for Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Hamilton Airport. This year’s UPS Plane Pull event promises to be even bigger and better, and we are excited to share our ambitious fundraising goal for the upcoming year.
Impact of Community Support
We look forward to building on the momentum of last year’s campaign in which our community showed incredible generosity by raising a historic $12.5 million. Thanks to these funds, your United Way was able to support 19 new agencies and 24 new programs, touching the lives of over 220,500+ individuals and families.
The collective generosity of local individuals, businesses, and organizations enables us to make a real difference in people’s lives. From providing food and shelter to offering mental health services and educational programs, the impact of these contributions is profound and far-reaching.
Looking Ahead: United in ACTION
Many of the challenges communities across Halton and Hamilton face are systemic and structural. Your United Way is involved in and collaborates on a variety of programs that promote equity in our community. This includes addressing systemic issues such as housing security, access to essential services, and support for marginalized groups. Through collective efforts and strategic initiatives, we aim to build a stronger, more resilient community.
You don’t need to look far to see that our friends and neighbours are hurting. From families struggling to make ends meet to individuals facing mental health challenges, the urgency and necessity of community support cannot be overstated. Our community needs help now more than ever, and the collective power of united action is crucial.
I am happy to announce that our Local Love Community Match program will be returning again this year. I will be announcing all of the details for this year’s match program on September 21st at the UPS Plane Pull. This is a fantastic way for your generous donations to amplify the impact on our local community.
Your donation today can transform lives and strengthen our community. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to a larger collective impact.
