Free menstrual products will soon be available in 10 Hamilton schools.

A new pilot project, launched jointly by the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) and the United Way of Halton and Hamilton, will see thousands of menstrual products available to students in 10 local public schools.

“There are too many in our community who do not have the resources to purchase products,” said Brenda Hajdu, vice-president of marketing and communications with the United Way. “As a result, too many women, transgender and nonbinary people miss out on education, work, social and other important life opportunities.”
