Celebrating International Women’s Day With United Way

< 1 MIN READ

International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021, celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

This is a time for reflection, to consider our strides and advances, to continue our shared call for change. Yet, we continue to face constant change and challenge amidst the global pandemic. In Canada, more women are diagnosed with, and have died from COVID-19 than men. While the pandemic is a trying time for everyone, there is an undeniable gender imbalance as the majority of essential frontline workers are women and women are also shouldering much of the burden at home along with increased risks of violence.

Together, we can build awareness on issues facing local women and their families, and work together to end the stigma around the barriers that women face daily.

United Way Halton & Hamilton’s Women United have collaborated with community and various organizations to bring several International Women’s day activities to you. Everyone is welcomed to join us as we collectively battle gender imbalance, celebrate groundbreaking achievements and share to strengthen our community and ignite action.
