Project: Mental illness shouldn’t lead to poverty, but far too often it does. Discrimination prevents many from education and employment, making it hard to earn a livable income. As a result, many spend years below the poverty line, facing limited options and daily hardship. People with mental illness often live in chronic poverty, unable to break the cycle due to stigma and systemic barriers. In our communities, 1 in 6 youth live with mood or anxiety disorders, and 46% of high schoolers report poor or fair mental health.
