United in ACTION: Rising to Meet the Moment

2 MIN READ

As the ground continues to shift beneath us in these uncertain times, the need for stability across our communities has never been more urgent. Economic volatility, global unrest, and the rising cost of living are placing extraordinary strain on families, seniors, and individuals across Halton and Hamilton.

For many, basic necessities like food on the table, a safe place to call home, or access to mental health support are slipping further out of reach.

We’re seeing more people than ever are turning to social services for the first time in their lives.

That’s why United Way Halton & Hamilton is stepping forward to meet this critical moment. We’re working with trusted local agency partners and community members who understand the realities of their neighbourhoods.

Together, we are protecting essential programs, reinforcing our social safety net, and showing what it truly means to be United in ACTION.

UPS Plane Pull for United Way

With local love leading the way, there’s no better way to launch our 2025–2026 campaign than with one of our most exciting and high-energy community events – the UPS Plane Pull.

Last year, teams from across the region came together to pull a 200,000-pound cargo plane across the tarmac. It was a day filled with teamwork, laughter, and purpose. A powerful reminder of what’s possible when we unite behind a common cause.

This year, we’re raising the bar. On Saturday, September 13, 2025, we’re returning to the Hamilton Airport with two cargo planes and 90 teams pulling for our community. That means more friends, coworkers, neighbours, and families coming together to show what local love in action really looks like.

All Hands on Deck for Community

Even if you can’t make it to the Plane Pull, there are so many ways you can still make a powerful impact.

One of the most powerful ways is through giving.

A monthly gift of $100+/month or an annual donation of $1,200 or more makes you a United Way Leadership Donor. Your generosity is fueling long-term solutions and supporting life-changing programs that children, families, and seniors across our region depend on.

And remember, every gift counts. Whether it’s $10 or $1,000, every donation helps someone access food, find shelter, connect to mental health support, or build a path forward. That’s how we build a stronger and more compassionate community where no one is left behind.

If you’re wondering where to begin, start here: Visit uwhh.ca to register for the UPS Plane Pull, make a donation, or explore more ways to take action.

United in ACTION, we can rise to this challenge and build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
