James loves his work practicing Real Estate and Municipal law with O’Connor MacLeod Hanna LLP and it shows. Whether it is assisting with land assemblies, registering subdivisions or hydro easements or purchasing and financing a property, James uses his expertise as a certified specialist (Real Estate Law) to obtain the results desired by his clients. James has always had a fascination with the law and headed off to law school at the University of Saskatchewan after receiving an Honours B.A. at the University of Western Ontario. Graduating in 2001, he was called to the Ontario Bar in 2003. His diligence and resolve in searching for solutions to clients’ problems continues the tradition of excellence, character and culture that OMH has built over the last five decades. The collegial, sharing atmosphere of OMH is ideally suited to meeting the needs of real estate and municipal clients. Expertise from different practice groups is often required to reach a proper conclusion. James knows that every lawyer at OMH is available to share their knowledge and experience with their colleagues. He readily admits that his growth as a lawyer is largely attributed to learning from those around him. Giving back to the community is an important part of James’ life at OMH. He was a member of the board of directors for The United Way of Milton from 2012 to 2017 serving as its Chair since 2014. He was instrumental in their recent amalgamation with the United Way of Halton Hills, United Way of Oakville and United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton. He is currently on the board of directors for the newly amalgamated United Way Halton & Hamilton. When he’s not at the office, James enjoys life in Oakville with his wife and kids and together they enjoy exploring Oakville’s extensive trail system with the family dog. James is an avid slo-pitch player having played rep baseball for 15 years in his youth and when time permits, golfing and reading fiction is a pleasant pastime.
